Pure Water Wilderness is the Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Counties area in North Central Florida. The region boasts the Suwannee River and the Santa Fe River, as well as over 60 freshwater springs, and is bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico. Come and enjoy recreation such as boating, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, canoeing, kayaking, walking and hiking the Nature Coast State Trail, photography and birding, and much more in this pristine, unspoiled area of Old Florida.

The Trail has three distinct divisions: Cross City to Fanning Springs, Fanning Springs to Chiefland, and Fanning Springs to Trenton. Cross City's, Chiefland's and Trenton's trailheads are the restored train depots. Fanning Springs' trailhead is at Wayside Park on the Suwannee River, next to Fanning Springs State Park. Each city offers restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance of the trailheads. The total trail length is 32 miles
